Not burning candles once you’ve bought them is a sacrilege, and certainly if you hoard Harpers candles you won’t get the best out of them. Candles need to be used, but just lighting one isn’t enough. Lots of people don’t know how to get the best out of their candles so here are some helpful tips.
Fragrance is carried from the melted wax, not the flame. If you don’t burn candles long enough to create a full wax pool they won’t burn properly. Candles have memories. Once a candle has started down a bad burn route, it will continue.
Always light both wicks in a two wick candle.
It is normal for a pure soy wax candle to release a little fragrance oil if exposed to large changes in temperature. Wipe off any excess oil with a tissue, wash hands and burn as usual. It won’t happen again after the first burn.
Store candles at room temperature in dry places, out of the cold or direct sunlight, and away from extremes of heat.
Caution; failure to follow instructions could result in fire hazard, injury or smoke damage. Keep wax, free of matches, wick trimmings, or other flammable materials. Keep wick centred & trimmed to 1/4″ to prevent smoking & soot build up on container or other items. Burn only on stable heat resistant surface for not more than 4 hours at a time. Keep out of drafts. Discontinue use when only 1/2″ wax remains in the bottom. Do not move candle while burning or if wax is hot. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Harpers started in 2012 and since then has gone from strength to strength.
Started by Victoria Harper in her kitchen.
“When I first started Harper’s Candles I was excited and yet looking my friends and family in the face and saying “Yup. I’m going to dig myself out of unemployment in one of the most impoverished cities in the North of England at the start of a recession by starting a candle business” wasn’t easy. I knew it appeared to be a foolish idea but it just seemed right, and yet I was oddly and slightly embarrassed. Secondly, my dog was thrown away as a puppy like she was rubbish so I want to see her as the logo for what would technically be a worldwide product. Nobody is rubbish and Flo certainly isn’t. To achieve even a minor part of world domination by December 2020 is something I would consider a massive “Stuff You!” to those who treat animals like they’re disposable and also act as a reminder to myself to never be embarrassed or lose confidence when chasing one’s dreams.”
For every Greener Beauty customer order we plant one tree. This is part of our ongoing effort to lower our carbon footprint and build a better world. We work with an American Charity called Eden Reforestation who plant trees globally where they are most needed. They hire, train and employ local people at a fair wage who then plant trees native to their land and protect the seedlings and eventually the forests. As a result of their careful nurturing they have an 80% seedling survival rate. This gives the local people a consistent income enabling them to provide for their families, and as the reforestation effort goes on, healthy forests emerge and the negative effects of deforestation disappear. Since Eden Reforestation began over 250 million trees have been planted around the world in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique. To further negate the carbon footprint of Greener Beauty HQ we also plant 15 trees a month per member of staff. Always ethical. Always vegan. Always Greener Beauty.
