GIVING BACK TO CHARITIES

At Greener Beauty, we are deeply committed to the power of greener beauty to make a positive impact on causes that we hold dear. With every purchase you make, a percentage of our profits goes towards supporting charitable organizations that align with our values and passion.

Since our launch, we have proudly donated 10% of all profits to a diverse range of deserving charities. Here are the charities we are currently supporting:

EDEN REFORESTATION PROJECTS

With every order placed, we go above and beyond in our commitment to environmental sustainability. We have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to make a lasting impact on our planet. For each order, we not only plant a tree but also continue to plant trees every month for every member of our staff. Additionally, we ensure that our website’s carbon footprint is offset by planting trees.

Eden Reforestation Projects is a remarkable organisation dedicated to restoring forests and providing fair wage employment opportunities for impoverished villagers. Their approach involves hiring locals to grow, plant, and protect native species forests on a grand scale. This “employ to plant methodology” delivers a multitude of positive socio-economic and environmental outcomes. Notably, their efficient operations have earned them recognition as one of the most cost-effective reforestation projects globally.

VICS THOUGHTS

We have been working with Eden Reforestation for a while to plant trees on a per order basis and to help negate the carbon footprint of Greener Beauty staff and website. I absolutely love the idea of a little Greener Beauty forest growing each month. You can read more about how many trees we have planted to date by selecting ‘Our Tree Story’ from the About Us menu.

REEF RESTORATION FOUNDATION

Starting from 1st June 2022, we are proud to announce that 10% of all profits from our sunscreen sales will be donated to the Reef Restoration Foundation. This partnership allows us to actively contribute to the restoration of damaged coral reefs and promote the well-being of our oceans.

The Reef Restoration Foundation is dedicated to the regeneration of damaged coral reefs through the establishment of ocean-based coral nurseries. Their innovative approach involves growing and planting corals that possess natural resilience, which aids in the regeneration of degraded reefs. By supporting this organisation, we are directly involved in the preservation and restoration of our precious marine ecosystems.

VICS THOUGHTS

We are passionate about only selling Reef Safe sunscreens and always have been. This seemed like the natural step to start supporting this amazing charity with restoring the reef with every sunscreen sold. Now your reef safe sunscreen not only looks after you and the oceans but also helps the reefs to regenerate.

Over the years, our commitment to making a positive impact has led us to donate thousands of pounds to various charitable causes. We take pride in the fact that these donations have been made through different initiatives and events, showcasing our ongoing dedication to giving back.

One such event is our Green Black Fridays, which we have been running since our inception. During this time, a portion of our proceeds goes directly towards supporting charities that align with our values. Additionally, as part of our annual advent calendar, we set aside a portion for charity donations, further amplifying our contribution to causes that matter.

These are just a few examples of the numerous ways in which we actively participate in charitable giving. We are constantly seeking opportunities to make a difference and support organizations that are doing important work in their respective fields.

THESE CHARITIES ARE:

HUGLETTS WOOD FARM SANCTUARY

Nestled in the scenic town of Heathfield, East Sussex, Hugletts Wood Farm Sanctuary stands as a beacon of compassion and care. Founded and operated by Wenda and Matt, this vegan animal sanctuary is a safe haven for cows and their fellow friends.

At Hugletts Wood Farm Sanctuary, their mission is clear – to provide a forever home to farm animals and birds who have been rescued from the harrowing conditions of the meat and dairy industry, as well as the heart-wrenching realities of the slaughterhouse. These gentle beings find solace and love within the sanctuary’s nurturing embrace.

VICS THOUGHTS:

To me Hugletts feels like a really special place. I sponsor Yogi the sheep and Judha the cow at Hugletts. It is a place where the animals truly come first. Not a petting zoo or farm where people can just visit the animals, there are a limited number of open days a year and they have a strict number of tickets available. If you have ever been I am sure you will agree that it is a truly magical place. This is the reason why we always have a Hugletts donation pot at every event we do and why they are top of our list of charities.

ANIMAL JUSTICE PROJECT

Founded in 2014, Animal Justice Project is a non-profit organisation on a mission to put an end to animal experiments and promote veganism. Their unwavering commitment lies in creating a society where every living being is treated with equality, compassion, and respect.

What sets Animal Justice Project apart is their dedicated focus on ending animal experiments conducted on university campuses – making them the sole animal rights organisation in the UK with this specific mission. It’s a sad reality that nearly half of all animal experiments take place within these educational institutions.

Through tireless advocacy, education, outreach, and research, Animal Justice Project sheds light on the often hidden realities of vivisection and farming industries. By raising awareness and challenging the status quo, they strive to create a more just and peaceful world for all sentient beings.

Further information about the Animal Justice Project can be found here:

VICS THOUGHTS

I am so excited to be able to support the Animal Justice Project. When you buy products from Greener Beauty you are saving animals by not buying products that are either tested on them or contain animal ingredients. With a donation to Animal Justice at checkout you are also helping the animals that are currently in labs being tested on. Its next level vegan beauty!

BREAST CANCER UK

One in seven women will get breast cancer at some point in their life. However, studies suggest if you make changes to your lifestyle your risk of getting breast cancer could be significantly reduced. Breast Cancer UK has analysed the latest findings on breast cancer and its prevention, to provide guidance on how to reduce your risk of developing the disease.

The mission of Breast Cancer UK is to prevent breast cancer through education, scientific research, collaboration and policy change.

54,000 women a year in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer and a quarter of these cases are preventable through lifestyle changes. That means over 13,000 cases of breast cancer could be prevented, saving millions of lives, avoiding unnecessary suffering and reducing the cost to NHS by approximately £1.5 billion a year.

VICS THOUGHTS

Breast Cancer Care are an amazing charity that are really promoting the use of Clean Beauty products as a preventative measure. This really aligns with what we believe here at Greener Beauty and is one of the reasons we support them as one of our charities.

SEA SHEPHERD UK

Sea Shepherd is a marine conservation charity that runs many direct action campaigns all over the world to protect marine life. Whether its protecting seals from being shot at salmon farms in Scotland, removing fish nets from the oceans, saving dolphins and whales from being slaughtered in the Faroes, the list is long! They protect all marine life from the smallest plankton and krill up to the largest whales. And they are successful in doing so! Sea Shepherd is a volunteer lead movement so all money raised actually funds campaigns and not in some fat cats pocket.

More information can be found here:
https://www.seashepherd.org.uk/

VICS THOUGHTS:

I have been a senior volunteer for Sea Shepherd UK since 2014. I have taken part in 3 campaigns to save marine life; as a Cove Guardian in Taiji Japan, the Grindstop campaign in the Faroe islands and the Seal Defence campaign in Scotland. As a scuba diver and self confessed mermaid I have a deep love for the ocean. I have seen first hand the devastation that fishing and exploitation of the oceans is causing. Sea Shepherd are a very effective direct action marine conservation charity and it was only right that they should be featured as one of the Greener Beauty charities.

STEPHEN LAWRENCE CHARITABLE TRUST

The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust aims to create a fairer society for all through career, community, and social initiatives for young people aged 13-30 in the UK. The organisation honours Black British teenager Stephen Lawrence who was murdered in a racist attack in 1993.

Too many young people still struggle to succeed because they are disadvantaged by factors beyond their control, such as where they are born, the school they go to, or any discrimination they may face. At the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, they don’t accept that your background should limit what you can achieve. They work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds aged 13 to 30 to broaden their view of what’s possible. They help them to gain the knowledge, skills, and qualifications they need to pursue the career of their choice, and then support them to progress through the early stages of their career.

More information can be found here: https://www.stephenlawrence.org.uk/

VICS THOUGHTS

I think there is a lot more that we can all do to help promote a fairer society for everyone and not just the few privileged ones. Unfortunately what happened to Stephen Lawrence all those years ago is still happening in the UK and its charities like the one set up in his name that are making a huge difference to the young people who need it most in the UK. Definitely one that is worthy of our support

VEGANUARY

If you haven’t heard of Veganuary where have you been living? A UK based charity that launched in 2014 that encourages people worldwide to try vegan for January and beyond. Their reach has been amazing with a quarter of a million people taking part in 2019. They provide daily emails, recipes and support for anyone trying a vegan diet.

More information can be found here:

VICS THOUGHTS

It is hard to talk about veganism and charities without thinking of Veganuary and the amazing work that they have done since they launched in 2014. Every January the amount of support and encouragement Veganuary offer to anyone who is going vegan for the month is incredible and is really helping to grow the vegan movement. This year (2020) that was a rather epic 402,206 people from 192 countries signing-up to take part.

WORKING TOGETHER AND SUPPORTING THESE INCREDIBLE CHARITIES WE CAN REALLY MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR EVERYONE WHO IS INHABITING THIS WORLD WITH US.

IMAGINE, YOU CAN HELP CHANGE AND SHAPE THE WORLD WE LIVE IN WHILE BUYING A TOOTHBRUSH!
