Work first the upper lashes, holding the brush horizontally closer to the root and then go up by making a zigzag while looking down. Focus on the outside to enlarge the eye and on the centre to ‘open up’ your eyes.

Be sure to open your mascara gently and at one time! Avoid trips to retrieve the material on the brush! If the brush is overloaded, gently remove the excess with a tissue and not at the edge of the tube. Once your mascara applied, you may have a few particles on the skin. Let it dry and then using a cotton swab gently remove these particles without rubbing

Some tips for a quick and easy beauty routine: before you put on mascara, always make sure your eyelashes are dry and free of cream or oil, then dust them with powder. This preparation will ensure your mascara won”t smudge and will last even longer. Open the mascara gently and in one movement! Avoid pumping to keep the product on the brush, but make sure that you haven’t overloaded it. If so, gently remove any excess with a tissue and not at the opening of the bottle. If you have a few drops of mascara on your skin after you’ve applied it, wait until it is dry, then gently wipe it off with a cotton swab. If you are already wearing foundation, you can also dab a little on the cotton swab before removing the mascara to ensure your complexion remains even.

Phyllostachys Nigra Extract* (Organic bamboo leaves hydrosol): Regenerates epidermis product of the distillation of bamboo leaves, It is mainly composed of pure silica and has been widely used in oriental medicine. Organic silica, which is a component of connective tissue, is present throughout the human body and regenerates the epidermis as it is involved in the synthesis of collagen and elastin. Over time, our silica reserves diminishes causing demineralisation and loss of skin elasticity. It is therefore necessary to regularly replenish the skin with transcutaneous supplies. For this reason, most of the products in the Zao range contain organic silica.

Silver (CI 77820) (micronised silver powder): These micro-particles of pure silver are antiseptic (especially on skin and mucous membranes) and antibacterial as well, thereby preserving the product and protecting the skin. Microsilver is often used in creams to treat burns. Almost all products in the Zao range (except lip balm stick and pencils) contain micro-particles of pure silver (a natural preservative).

Acacia senegal gum: Acacia gum or Arabic gum, derived from the acacia senegal tree, is used as a bonding agent which improves the mascara and eyeliner’s hold. Its wealth of polysaccharides and glycoproteins also makes it a real tightening and lifting cosmetic asset. In addition, acacia has softening, soothing and healing qualities for fragile mucous membranes, which helps prevent irritation when applying mascara.

Silica (organic silica): The human body contains about seven grams of silica, far more than all other minerals including iron (and silica is the second component of the earth’s crust with 28% after oxygen with 47%). The essential quality of silica allows the body to efficiently absorb and assimilate the minerals and vitamins. The connective tissue of the human body (cell wall) is composed of collagen and elastin. However, these molecules need silica which is no more synthesised after twenty years old. An external input is needed especially for the skin. For this reason the organic silica is present in most of the products of the Zao range.
