Work first the upper lashes, holding the brush horizontally as close as to the roots and then move upwards in a zigzag motion. Focus on the outer corner to enlarge eyes or at the centre for a more opened look. Check the brush is not overloaded. If so, gently remove the excess with a tissue and not at the edge of the tube.

Let it dry and then using a cotton swab gently remove these particles without rubbing.
