The story of Eco by Sonya is one of resilience, personal transformation, and a deep commitment to creating a healthier, animal-friendly, and environmentally friendly eco range. Founded by Sonya Driver in 2011, the brand is rooted in authenticity and transparency, placing great importance on their certifications.

The journey of Eco by Sonya began when Sonya’s life took an unexpected turn. Her husband left her suddenly, leaving her alone to raise their children. To make matters worse, her sister was diagnosed with melanoma. Determined to be a positive influence and support her sister, Sonya embarked on a new path.

Sonya spent two weeks volunteering in East Timor, providing aid to those in need. In that desolate environment, she gained perspective and realised the need for positive change in her own life. Inspired by this experience, she returned to the Gold Coast and resolved to make a difference.

Seeking a safer alternative to tanning without exposing themselves to harmful UV rays, Sonya and her sister began getting regular spray tans. However, they soon became concerned about the ingredients in the products they were using. Sonya delved into extensive research, discovering the harmful substances present in many brands. Recognising the impact that what we put on our skin has on our overall health, she made the decision to create a true organic tanning range.

Driven by her passion for natural and organic ingredients, Sonya formulated a range of tanning and body care products using cacao, flower essence, chamomile, and other natural ingredients.

Eco by Sonya’s commitment to quality and sustainability is reinforced by their certifications. The Professional, Tanning, and Body Care range is Certified Organic by the Organic Food Chain Australia and accredited as Toxic Free by Safe Cosmetics Australia. Additionally, they hold accreditation from Choose Cruelty Free, ensuring that their products are never tested on animals.
