The Beauty without Cruelty swan logo encapsulates their mission being associated with the deities of healing waters and the sun. Known for its grace and beauty the swan is symbolic of our mission to deliver beauty by the intertwining of natural elements in our product offering.
Beauty without Cruelty has a history that includes so much animal rights. After being founded officially in the UK in 1963 by BWC Charitable Trust, BWC began work on its cosmetics line. BWC’s goal was to create natural cosmetics that did not contain animal ingredients and had never been tested on animals. Katherine Long, a well known cosmetician and animal welfare activist, worked with Noel Gabriel to lead the organization in creating these products. Muriel Dowding offered her assistance to the organization after Long’s death in 1969 to stop it from being shut down. Later in 1978, Joseph Piccioni became the managing director of BWC in the UK. With his business expertise and dedication to animal rights, Piccioni helped lead BWC to launch its lines in the United States in 1989.

For over 60 years Beauty Without Cruelty has led the way in cruelty free cosmetics. They operate a company wide fixed cut off date.
Muriel, The Lady Dowding (1908-1993) was born in London. Throughout her life, she was dedicated to the rights of animals and pioneered the development of cruelty free cosmetics, and products suitable for vegetarians. She campaigned in the 1950s to persuade the leaders of the cosmetics industry to change their animal ingredient policies which included wide use of spermaceti from whales and musk from the musk deer. This failed and her determination to provide a constructive alternative led her to set up the Beauty Without Cruelty Cosmetics business. To this day the business continues as a pioneer in ingredient consciousness.

As the founder of the 100% cruelty free cosmetics business that has been brand leader for over 60 years, the brand has an enviable reputation for progressive incorporation of the best natural ingredients. Their unique formulations carry a dedicated focus on enhancing a healthy and nourished skin. 100% of the Beauty Without Cruelty natural range, that we at Greener Beauty retail, is vegan and vegetarian, and free from fragrance, paraben, carmine, PEG, GMO, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Phthalate and with Talc Free Powders.
For every Greener Beauty customer order we plant one tree. This is part of our ongoing effort to lower our carbon footprint and build a better world. We work with an American Charity called Eden Reforestation who plant trees globally where they are most needed. They hire, train and employ local people at a fair wage who then plant trees native to their land and protect the seedlings and eventually the forests. As a result of their careful nurturing they have an 80% seedling survival rate. This gives the local people a consistent income enabling them to provide for their families, and as the reforestation effort goes on, healthy forests emerge and the negative effects of deforestation disappear. Since Eden Reforestation began over 250 million trees have been planted around the world in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique.
