In our series of blogs ‘The people of Greener Beauty’ we are going to get up close and personal with some of the amazing people that form part of our amazing Greener Beauty community. In this edition we ask all the questions you want to know of our very own Katie.
Tell us about your role at Greener Beauty
I am the Business Development Manager which involves such a varied range of jobs! A large part of my job is content creation, so social media, blogs, graphics, the newsletter and sometimes promotional material. I also deal with all the orders, some customer care, editing the website when needed, research for new brands and products and together with Vic we are constantly coming up with new ideas to grow and promote Greener Beauty. It is such a varied role which is perfect for me as I am definitely a multi-passionate person when it comes to my career!
What is your beauty routine?
On a daily basis I wash my face with the Shea Butter Facial Cleansing Bar from Friendly Soap and then I apply moisturiser. At the moment I am trialling a brand that we have just decided to bring on, so that will be in the shop very soon! It is possibly one of my favourite products I have used so far but that is all I can say at the moment! I also use the Sukin Rosehip Oil Day Cream which I love as I have quite sensitive skin and it feels really gentle and light yet makes my skin feel really well moisturised. One of the perks of working for Greener Beauty is that I get to try loads of products so I am very often using other products too which is such a treat.
I am actually quite a minimalist when it comes to a beauty routine which is very different to Vic, and may seem a little odd considering my job, but I think this is a great mix in terms of how we approach bringing new products in. Where as Vic seeks out products to use and enjoys whole process of treating herself and her skin I am much more functional! I need to brush my teeth, wash myself, dye my hair and do all those daily things but as a vegan it is a necessity that all my products are this too and I also want to enjoy to the process and feel good after so Greener Beauty is just as important to me as it is to someone like Vic.
If you could visit one place on Earth where would you go?
This is really difficult because I want to go everywhere! Being a compulsive list maker, I have a bucket list that I take quite seriously and following this means I have to visit at least one new country every year. Last year my husband and I actually managed 8 countries, five of which were new as we went on a three week road trip to Slovenia stopping off at lots of places along the way and on the way home. Having said that there are still loads left to see!
What do you do in your spare time?
Yoga is probably my biggest passion. I qualified as a yoga teacher last year which I did purely to be able to immerse myself not really to be able to teach. I also love dancing and have recently started to run regularly too.
I love walking and being in nature, my husband and I are hoping to walk around the whole of the coast of England by doing a small part whenever we can.
I also really love to cook. I actually only really started to enjoy cooking when I became vegan a few years ago.
Chocolate, no question! I also really like Thai food and Japanese too.
If you could choose three dream dinner dates who would they be?
The first one would have to be my husband! The second would Thich Nhat Nanh, a Vietnamese Monk, I always turn to his books when I need reminding about the way I want to live my life with kindness and calmness. And for the third Rachel Hollis who is a motivational coach who has written some great books and provides inspiring content that helps keep me on track to achieving all my goals, of which there are lots!
What always brings a smile to your face?
My cats and being in nature.
If you were a superhero what powers would you have?
One that would bring peace to all beings
What is your favourite thing about working at Greener Beauty?
My work at Greener beauty is a total pleasure and I count myself extremely lucky to be part of a company who’s aims are to make such a positive impact in the world. Throughout my journey of yoga and my several careers I have learnt that I am a multi-passionate person, I love to challenge myself but ultimately I know purpose is to make a difference in the best way I can. I have also learnt that this can be large projects or small gestures as long as it is having a positive impact on something or someone. To be part of a company that is not only able to make such a difference in the world of veganism, but also with a focus on helping the environment and providing the best possible experience for every one of our customers and our community is more than I could ask for. The constant supply of amazing beauty products is also pretty good!
