TELL US ABOUT HOW YOU STARTED GREEN PEOPLE

Green People is a certified organic skin care brand that I created 25 years ago. Green People’s story started because my daughter, Alexandra, suffered from severe allergies and eczema. Everyone told me to treat her skin with steroids but that was not what I wanted to do.

Using my background in pharmaceuticals, I began to scrutinise skin care labels and I was shocked to discover that much of the natural skin care I had been using to care for Alexandra’s skin contained a long list of synthetic ingredients! This realisation made me set to work creating my own skin care that was based on organic ingredients.

WHAT MAKES GREEN PEOPLE SO UNIQUE?

Green People offers 170 organic products, and these are made with pure and truly organic ingredients that can be traced from farm to formulation. Because they are organic, they also support the entire environmental concept of improving soil health and preserving it for future generations.

WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE DAY RUNNING GREEN PEOPLE LOOK LIKE?

We make everything in house and I’m involved at every stage of the manufacturing process. A typical week will involve meetings with suppliers and the product development team, researching new and innovative ingredients as well as meetings with the marketing and design team. I’ve recently opened the first Green People flagship store and often visit the store in the week, it’s great to have the opportunity to meet local customers face-to-face!

WHAT GREEN PEOPLE PRODUCT MAKES YOU MOST PROUD?

One of my greatest achievements is that Green People pioneered the organic beauty industry. When I launched Green People, there were no standards for natural and organic cosmetics. Compelled to bring more clarity to the beauty sector I approached the Soil Association, the leading UK organisation for organic certification, to encourage them to form standards for organic health and beauty products and Green People went on to become one of the first brands to have certified organic beauty products as is still championing organic beauty 25 years on.

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY BEAUTY OR SKINCARE ROUTINE?

As I am constantly developing new products which needs to be tried and tested, my routine varies. My favourite moisture combo is a mix of serum and oil from my own Age Defy+ range.
