A Christmas Chat with Vic!

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ABOUT CHRISTMAS?

I absolutely love spending time with friends and family at Xmas. I have quite a large family with 3 sisters and 8 nephews and nieces. Christmas is normally the only day of the year where we are all together at my parents house. Its normally a lot of fun! My eldest nephew is 27 and the youngest is 4 so it’s a wide range of ages and a lot of laughing and noise! Obviously this year will not be the same but it will be lovely all the same.

WHAT DO YOU EAT FOR CHRISTMAS DINNER?

I am very blessed that 2 of my sisters are also vegan, one of my nephews is vegan and 3 others are veggie. So to make life easier we have been having 100% vegan Christmas’s for about 4 years now. Its such a lovely day and means that there are no animal products to be seen! And best of all no checking of labels. Most years we make a wellington and I think this year we are doing the same with a Linda McCartney roast in the middle. It’s a very simple main course but so tasty with lots of mushrooms, some chestnuts and puff pastry on the outside.

SPROUTS – NAUGHTY OR NICE?

Love sprouts! Even reheated ones.

DO YOU HAVE ANY UNUSUAL CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS?

We only have one tradition and that is that lounge where the Christmas tree is with the gifts is closed until everyone arrives. At which point we go into the lounge and for some reason its always in age order with the youngest first. I have no idea why we do this but it is great to hear the squeals of excitement as the door is opened and the little ones first see the gifts.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND IN YOUR CHRISTMAS STOCKING?

This may not come as a surprise but when I was younger I loved to find makeup and chocolate! I am pretty predictable really! These days I would love to find Jason Mamoa or Dave Grohl in my stocking! That would be a very happy Christmas.

WHAT’S THE BEST OR WORST CRACKER JOKE YOU’VE EVER HEARD?

Whether its bad or good is up to you… but..

How is Drake like an elf?

He spends all his time wrapping.

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS TREATS?

I do love a good mince pie!

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO ANYONE FACING THEIR FIRST VEGAN CHRISTMAS?

There are so many festive vegan options available now in all the major supermarkets. Everyone’s taste is different so I would definitely recommend testing out your options for the big day before. Everything that you have had before in previous Xmas’ can be veganised so start to research how to make your favourite dishes and practice!

TOP BEAUTY TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS?

All the going from hot heated places into the cold air outside can play havoc with our skin. Personally I use a high quality oil or serum at night before a night cream to give my skin that extra bit of TLC. I also make sure I have one night a week where I give myself a face mask, it’s a good excuse to just chill out for an evening but also super hydrating!

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS FILM?

It’s a close call so I will have to say 3.. Depending on my mood I would say either Elf, Home Alone 2 (lost in new York) or The Holiday.

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?

Guilty pleasure, I love a bit of Mariah Carey, all I want for Christmas.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET UNDER THE MISTLETOE?

See earlier answer, Jason Mamoh, Dave Ghrol or id add Idris Elba to that. Any of them would do

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR IDEAL CHRISTMAS PARTY (VENUE, HOUSE BAND ETC)?

I think if you had asked me this question last year (pre covid) my answer would be very different but now its anywhere my friends and family are. The thought of having a party with all my nearest and dearest is so delightful! Maybe next year.
